Richton School District Families:
Effective on Monday, October 4th, the Richton School District will no longer require the use of face coverings inside our school buildings or buses. Face coverings will be optional with the choice being in the hands of parents and students. With this change, please understand that students who choose to wear their face coverings inside the classroom, buses, and buildings will be less likely to be quarantined due to being in close contact with COVID-positive individuals. Asymptomatic students who are wearing face coverings who maintain 3 feet or more apart will not have to quarantine. Students who choose NOT to wear face coverings will have to be quarantined if they are within 3 feet of a positive individual for 15 cumulative minutes or more. With the guidance from the Mississippi Department of Health and health officials, we still highly recommend and encourage our students and employees to properly use face coverings. We will continue to monitor our student and employee COVID-related data and make any future changes based on this data.
Sincerely,
Richton School District Administration
